Because we strive to be the best natural resource consulting firm in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions, we require that our biologists have a minimum of a MS degree in a biology or natural resource management field. Our field and laboratory technicians are required to have a minimum of a BS degree in biology or related field.

Resource Technician I (Position No. F0705; posted 11/21/07)

Classification: Full time, hourly, non-exempt (three-month probation before attaining permanent status)

Wage: Dependent upon education and experience

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS degree in fisheries or wildlife biology or natural resource management is required. Candidates must demonstrate general knowledge of fishery and wildlife management practices. Candidates demonstrating knowledge and experience with pond and lake management techniques are preferred. Must have a clean driving record, must agree to a background check, and must have or acquire a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire. Must be willing to work outdoors, with little or no supervision, in extreme weather conditions. Must be willing to travel out-of-state for periods up to two weeks.

Responsibilities: Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining pond and lake management accounts along the Colorado Front Range and in western Nebraska. Duties will include algae and weed control and lake aeration system installation and maintenance. Other duties will include assisting biologists with fishery and other natural resource surveys, assisting other personnel with lake mapping, and maintaining company equipment and facilities. Successful candidate may also be called upon to perform laboratory analyses for water quality, algae and macroinvertebrate samples

Exams: Successful candidate must successfully pass our Level I - Resource Technician exam at the time of interview.

Project Biologist I (Position No. F0704; posted 11/14/07)

Classification: Full time, salaried, exempt (three-month probation before attaining permanent status)

Salary and Benefits: Dependent upon education and experience

Qualifications: A minimum of a MS degree in fisheries or wildlife biology or natural resource management is preferred. Candidates with a BS degree who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience will also be considered. Candidates must have and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience with fishery and wildlife management practices, wetland science, limnology, stream ecology, statistical methods, soil and water chemistry, and aquatic and terrestrial habitat restoration techniques. Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge directly related to NEPA, NPDES, Section 7 ESA, Section 404, and Sections 316a and 316b programs. Must have a clean driving record, must agree to a background check, and must have or acquire a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire. Must be willing to work outdoors, with little or no supervision, in extreme weather conditions. Must be willing to travel out-of-state for periods up to two weeks.

Responsibilities: Successful candidate will be responsible for designing, coordinating, supervising and conducting ecological surveys for streams, lakes, fisheries, wetlands and wildlife. All survey data will be analyzed and reviewed for development of resource assessments and management plans. Other duties will include data analysis and interpretation, report preparation, proposal preparation, business development, client and agency consultation, budget formulation and management, trade show coordination and supervision, laboratory sample analysis, and personnel supervision.

Certifications and Exams: Successful candidate must have (or be actively working toward acquiring) certifications for: Associate Fishery Professional or Fishery Professional (certified by AFS); or Associate Professional Wildlife Biologist or Professional Wildlife Biologist (certified by TWS); and Professional Wetland Scientist (within six months of hire; certified by WTI). Successful candidate must also pass in-house competency examinations (Level II - Resource Technician and Level I - Biologist) within 90 days of hire.

Laboratory Technician I (Position No. F0703; posted 11/14/07)

Classification: Part time, hourly, non-exempt

Wage: Dependent upon education and experience

Qualifications: A minimum of a BS degree in aquatic biology or related field is required. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the process and analysis of water chemistry, soil chemistry, algae, zooplankton and benthic invertebrate samples. Candidates must be experienced with various types of laboratory equipment, including stereo microscopes, compound microscopes, inverted microscopes, water chemistry equipment, centrifuges, and spectrophotometers. Candidates who demonstrate knowledge related to standard QA/QC and SOP protocols are preferred.

Responsibilities: Successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing water and soil chemistry, algae, zooplankton and macroinvertebrate samples in the laboratory. Other duties will include preparation of laboratory reports and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Successful candidate may also be used on occasion to assist field personnel.

Exams: Successful candidate must successfully pass our Level I - Laboratory Technician exam at the time of interview.
